Aware of a rapid changing reality for furniture design with changing production, promotion and selling methods, a surplus of furniture in a society where people move to smaller houses and offices and a society on the edge of consuming less Ineke Hans wanted to focus on 'future scenarios for furniture design' and consequently 'the changing role of the designer'. To do so she has started studio|salon in London in 2015.
East London studio-salons
Six salons took place in East London studio's with a focus on furniture and to identify pointers for the future. These salons are roundtable conversations with limited groups of professionals from the entire design scene.
London XL salons
Three UK-NL pop-up salons for a larger audience took place during Clerkenwell Design Week and were accompanied by a UK-NL popup expo with PROOFFLab & Opendesk.
Three UK-NL pop-up salons took place at Ace Hotel & V&A Museum during the London Design Festival 2016, accompanied by an installation at the V&A and a second popup expo.
In 2017 the London salons ended with 3 final salons London Design Festival 2017, the Pamphlet and exhibition EXPLORE & ACT.
